Welcome to Ancestor Cult
I’m using this site to share information that my mom, Phyllis Smith Bungart, collected over many years as an amateur genealogist. I also have a lot of genealogy data that I’ve collected online. The info I have is for Lienharts, Langhams, Smiths, and Wolfes, and related families.
I have the following four categories of material on Ancestor Cult:
Family Trees. These show ancestry. (On the Home page you will find links to all the other pages). These trees are generated by my Family Tree Maker application, which can produce various kinds of ‘charts’.
Photos: Photo pages are set up with ‘galleries’ that allow users to click on a photo and scroll through one at a time. In that way you will see the complete photo, with any text that may be in the bottom margin. After selecting an image, you can right-click it and “Open Image in New Tab” to make it as large as you want, or to make a copy.
If you have photos that you would like to contribute, let me know. I’ll provide a way for you to transfer high-resolution images to me, instead of trying to send them as email attachments.
Documents: For external documents that I’ve copied, rather than created.
Posts: I realize the documents and family trees are kind of dry; of little interest to most non-genealogists. I hope the Posts will be more entertaining and informative. They could include anything written about topics related to our family history. While I’ve written a few things myself, I’m hoping that others will contribute most of these.
Here are some books about writing family history that you can borrow online free from Internet Archive.
The typical post will resemble this page in format; mainly text, often with one or more related images. If you would like to contribute, any length is fine.

Genealogy Ethics: Mostly we won’t feature information about people who are still alive. I generally remove living people from the family trees, and won’t publish documents that include private information about living people. Photos, however, may often include people who are still around. If you see photos, documents, or personal information on the site that might be problematic, please notify me.
Spread the Word: Only a handful of close relatives received the email with the link to this site. I’d appreciate your help in passing on the URL for this site to other relatives.
Where to Find Genealogy Information Online: The best site is Ancestry.com, but a subscription is expensive. Two excellent free sites are Familysearch.org and Findagrave.com.
And Last of All … The look and format of Ancestor Cult are subject to constant change, as I continue to tinker with the site and receive your feedback. So please don’t hesitate to make suggestions, using the form on the Contact page. Also, when you see incorrect or incomplete information, I’d appreciate you notifying me. And I urge you to consider contributing posts, photos, or other data.
